Mrs. Lizzie Jane Flanders Meeks, 81, of Kite was called to Glory Wednesday June 29, 2011 at the Emanuel County Nursing Home following an extended illness.
Mrs. Meeks was born in Kite where she lived all of her life. She was preceded in death by her parents, Samps D. and Nora Warnock Flanders; husband of 51 years Hardee Meeks; son, Robbie Meeks; brothers, Ozzie Flanders, Felton Flanders, Artis Flanders and S.D. Flanders; sisters, Rozell Lamb, Kathryn Claxton, Ina Mae Skipper and Margie Todd.
Mrs. Meeks was a homemaker. She enjoyed tending to her flower garden and listening to music. She was a member of the Kite Church of God for 46 years.
Survivors include her sons, Rev. Allen (Donna) Meeks, and J.H. (Evalena) Meeks both of Kite; daughters, Elaine (Wayne) Bridges of Glenwood, Ruth (Paul) Williams of Kite, Betty (Scott) Schoen of Swainsboro, Jane Ann (Gary) Walters of Kite, Janice Mathias of Wrightsville; 19 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be in the Kite Church of God at 11 o’clock Friday morning, July 1, with Reverends Arthur Conley and Marc Bridges officiating. Mrs. Meeks will lie in State one hour prior to service. Burial will follow in the Lamb Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 30, at Chapman Funeral Home
Pallbearers will be Nathan Meeks, Zach Walters, Marc Bridges, Joey Schoen, Gary Walters, and Paul Williams.
Honorary Pallbearers will be men of the Kite Church of God.
