Lois Averett Morris

April 3, 1938 — October 10, 2016

Mrs. Lois Averett Morris, 78, of Kite passed away Monday morning, October 10, 2016 at Emanuel Medical Center following an extended illness.

Mrs. Morris was born April 3, 1938 in Kite, Georgia to the late Talmadge Taylor and Elizabeth Horton Taylor.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Jackson Morris, and Floyd Kea Averett; brother, Jack Taylor; grandson, Zade Pace. Mrs. Morris was a lifelong resident of Johnson County. She was a seamstress, she loved gardening, listening to wind chimes, being outside, and especially loved her family. Mrs. Morris was a member of the Kite Church of God.

Survivors include her son, Dennis (Melinda) Averett of Kite; daughter, Donna Turner of Wrightsville; brother, Billy Gene (Tammie) Taylor of Kite; sister, Betty Taylor of Kite; grandchildren, Amanda (Nathan) Garnto, Derek (Alice) Averett, Zane Pace, Shelly Moore; Great-Grandchildren, Brooklyn Garnto, Brynlee Averett, Tripp Moore, Emma Moore; several nieces, nephews, and friends.

Funeral services will be held in the Kite Church of God at 11:00 a.m. Thursday morning, October 13, 2016 with Reverends Allen Meeks and Chad Kenison officiating. Mrs. Morris will lie in state one hour prior to service.

Interment will follow in the Kite City Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 pm. to 9 pm. Wednesday evening, October 12, 2016 at Chapman Funeral Home.

Pallbearers are David McCoy, Ruskin Powell, Dale Taylor, Wayne Robertson, David Davis, and Jimmy Peebles.
