Lucile W. Flanders

September 10, 1919 — April 11, 2013

Mrs. Lucile W. Flanders, 93, of Swainsboro died Thursday, April 11, 2013 at the Emanuel Medical Center following an extended illness.

Mrs. Flanders was born in Dublin, grew up in Swainsboro and moved back to Swainsboro in the 1980’s.  She is preceded in death by her parents, Grover Cleveland Walden and Nina Lowe Hadden Walden; husbands, William Edward Worthington, Sr. and Ridgeway Flanders; son, William Edward Worthington, Jr.; brothers, G.C. Walden, Jr., James Farris Walden, William Columbus Walden and Harold Lee Walden; sister, Ada Woods Riggs.  Mrs. Flanders enjoyed reading novels, gardening and traveling.  She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Swainsboro.

Survivors include her son, Anthony Walden (Elizabeth) Worthington of Swainsboro; grandchildren, Andrea Henry, Ree Johnson, Samuel Worthington all of Swainsboro, Emily McAllister of Juliette, Linda Patterson of Warner Robins, James Worthington of Ft. Valley, Susan (Wade) Ford of Glasgow Kentucky and Aletta Payne of Milledgeville; 15 great grandchildren; a number of great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews

Graveside services will be held in the Swainsboro City Cemetery at 11 o’clock Saturday morning, April 13, 2013 with Rev. Clarence Thompson and Dr. Bill Woodson officiating.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until time of service at the cemetery.
