Mr. Lynwood Mincey, 88, of Twin City died Thursday evening, July 5, 2012 at the Uni-Health Post Acute Care of Swainsboro following an extended illness.
Mr. Mincey was born in Garfield and son of the late Willie L. Mincey and Ada Hendley Mincey. He was preceded in death by his wife Runette Grimes Mincey and son John Lynwood Mincey.
Mr. Mincey enjoyed gardening, fishing and being with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a self employed farmer and Building Contractor. Mr. Mincey was a WWII veteran of the United States Navy. He also was a member and Past Master of Ridgeway Masonic Lodge # 104 in Garfield and one of the oldest members of the Garfield Baptist Church which he built.
Survivors include his sons, Robert Louis (Pat) Kearney of Flowery Branch, James Wesley (Kaye) Mincey and Willie Foster (Kim) Mincey both of Twin City; daughters, Faye Mincey (Wayne) Hutchinson of Norristown, Dorothy Mincey (Jackie) Wallace of Metter and Shirley Mincey of Twin City; sister, Elizabeth Welch of Swainsboro; 13 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews
Funeral services will be held at the Garfield Baptist Church at 3:00 o’clock Saturday afternoon, July 7, 2012 with Reverends Franklin Sasser and Tommy Rountree officiating. Burial will follow in the Hebron Baptist Church Cemetery in Garfield with Masonic rites.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until time of service at the church.
Pallbearers will be Dave Akins, Jay Akins, Ray Wallace, Brad Kearney, Jason Cowart, Jody Cowart and Wes Mincey.
Honorary pallbearers are members of the Ridgeway Masonic Lodge #104.
