Ms. Margie D. Thigpen, 72, of Swainsboro passed away Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at Community Hospice in Vidalia following an extended illness.
Ms. Thigpen was born December 10, 1948 in Swainsboro to the late, Spencer Allen Douglas and Auline Hooks Douglas. She was preceded in death by her parents and son, Michael Ray Thigpen. Ms. Thigpen was a retired secretary from the Georgia Department of Corrections. She enjoyed doing yardwork, fishing, sewing, and having fun. Ms. Thigpen was a member of Hawhammock Baptist Church.
Survivors include her sister, Glenda Avery of Swainsboro and her sister-in-law and brother-in law, Beulah and Kent Graham of Soperton
Funeral Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, December 31, 2020 in the chapel of Chapman Funeral Home with Reverend Cail Pressey officiating.
Interment will follow in the Sardis Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, December 31, 2020 at Chapman Funeral Home.
Pallbearers are Bo Lariscy, Matt Braswell, Allen McDaniel, Del Brown, Mark Canady, and James Leeb.
In compliance with the guidelines set by the CDC, 6 feet rule will be enforced during visitation and service.
