Mrs. Marie T. Hillman, 56, of Twin City died Thursday morning, February 21, 2013 at the Ogeechee Area Hospice in Statesboro following an extended illness.
Mrs. Hillman was born in Waynesboro and a life long resident of Emanuel County. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur Thompson and Ollie Hudson Thompson; sister, Eva Durden. Mrs. Hillman was a 1975 graduate of Swainsboro High School. She worked at Piggly Wiggly Southern in book keeping for 15 years and worked at Bi-lo as a cashier for 12 years. Mrs. Hillman loved listening to gospel music and doing word puzzles. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church for 48 years.
Survivors include her husband, Jerry Hillman of Twin City; son, Allen (Crystal) Hillman of Augusta; daughters, Jennifer (Allan) Sasser of Matthews and Melissa Hillman of Stapleton; brothers, William (Doris) Marsh of Wrens, Jimmy Marsh of Augusta, Henry (Deborah) Thompson of Swainsboro; sister, Mary (Jimmy) Odom of Swainsboro; grandchildren, Christina Gantt, Jessica Hillman, Johnathan Fanning, Taylor Fanning, Joshua Hillman, Brittany Brazell and Travis Brazell; several nieces, and nephews and several great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at Southside Baptist Church at 3 o’clock Saturday, afternoon February 23, 2013 with Reverends Earl Warnock and Herschel Clements officiating. Mrs. Hillman will Lie in State one hour prior to service. Burial will be in the Union Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery near Swainsboro.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, February 22, 2013 at Chapman Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Clay Marsh, John Smith, John Love, Ricky Hoskins, Allen Hillman and Alan Sasser.
Honorary Pallbearers are Southside Baptist Church Adult II Sunday School Class
