Mrs. Mary Ann Ward Donaldson, 94, of Twin City passed away Thursday, August 21, 2025, at her residence. She was born in Metter on September 25, 1930, to the late Willie S. Ward and Lottie Mae Sutton Ward.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Noel E. Donaldson; son, Ned Donaldson; son-in-law, Parker Freeman; sisters, Cola Holloway, Ethel Apperson, one infant sister; brothers, Clayton “Son” Ward, Harley Ward, George Ward, J.V. Ward, Wendell Ward, John Ward, Odell Ward, and one infant brother.
Mary Ann was a member of Bethel Primitive Baptist Church and valued her faith and family dearly. Her greatest joys were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who she loved dearly.
A devoted wife to Noel for 34 years, he preceded her in death in 1980. A mother to Ned and Jenny. In her early life, when her mother became ill, she and Noel returned home to Twin City to help care for her mother and 2 younger brothers. Their home was a sanctuary, always filled with the comforting aroma of a home cooked meal. Many nieces and nephews were nurtured by Aunt Mary Ann, as she was so affectionally known. If you needed a place to come to, it was always Aunt Mary Ann’s.
Mary Ann was the heart of her family and a true caregiver for many years. She worked as a homemaker, seamstress, and operated an in-home personal care home. She dedicated her life to nurturing others. She was known for her quiet strength of someone who always put others first. Mary Ann did it all with grace and devotion.
Though she may no longer be with us in body her presence will forever echo in the traditions she passed down and the many lives she touched. Mary Ann will truly be missed by all.
Mrs. Donaldson is survived by her daughter, Jenny Freeman of Twin City; grandchildren, Brent Parker Freeman (Samantha) of Twin City, Kylie Freeman Trapnell (Mark) of Metter; great-grandchildren, Colt Freeman, Carley Freeman, Kyson Trapnell, Kaiden Trapnell; several nieces, nephews and many friends.
