Ms. Mattie Mae Parker, 87, of Swainsboro passed away Wednesday, August 14, 2024, Emanuel Medical Center, following an extended illness.
Mattie was a native, born on November 27, 1936 in Swainsboro, Emanuel County, Georgia to the parentage of Samuel Thomas Parker Sr. and Mary Lou Shoemake-Parker. She attended and graduated in 1956 from Emanuel County High School. Mattie furthered her education at Tuskegee College in Tuskegee, Alabama. And as life happens, Mattie then attended and graduated from Nursing School at Swainsboro Technical. Mattie was a Nurse in the Emanuel County area for over 30 years demonstrating her God given talents to be a servant, leader of many. Mattie accepted Christ at an early age and joined the Greater Saint James Missionary Baptist Church in Swainsboro, GA. Mattie was anointed in countless areas.

In addition to her Parents, Samuel Thomas Parker, Sr,and Mary Lou Shoemake-Parker; Surrogate Mother Minnie Bell Shoemake-Stephens-Tiller, Siblings: Samuel Parker, Jr., John Willie Parker, James Otis Parker, Lee Edward Parker, Bobby Parker, Sr, Arline Parker. Son:John Eric “The Governor” Parker, Son-in-law: Willie Karlydena Harris, Jr. Sisters-in-laws: Agnes Salter-Parkerand Alma Worthen-Parker. Neice: Tammy L. Parker, Nephew: Collis O. Parker.
Mattie leaves a legacy of “cherished and loving memories” to her children: one daughter; Rosalind M. Harris of Fort Valley, Georgia, two sons; Michael E. Parker of Fairburn, Ga. Milton T. Graham (Debby Ann) of Wadley, Ga.
Brothers: Ralph Parker, Sr (Lutricia) and Johnny Parker of Swainsboro, Ga.
Sister: Christine Parker of Swainsboro, Ga. And sister-in-law: Mary E.M. Parker-Swainsboro, Ga. Mattie’s darling 6- grandchildren “(affectionately called-her Scamps)”: Terrence Howard, Teresa (Charles) Trim, Tyler Howard, Moesha Williams, Teralyn Harris, Tyteunna Graham. Her 7- great-grandchildren: Braylon Howard, Trent Howard, Tatiana Howard, Legacy Cobb, Aurora Trim, Kenyon Howard, Dior Cobb. And a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Ms. Parker’s grandsons and nephews.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Deacons of The Greater St. James Church.
Funeral Service will be 11:00 A.M., Monday, August 19, 2024, at Greater St. James Baptist Church with Reverend Bennie Brinson officiating.
Interment will follow at the Swainsboro City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Sunday, August 18, 2024, from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Chapman Funeral Home.
