Mrs. Maudine Cubbedge Johnson, 90, of Garfield passed away Tuesday, May 26, 2026, in Garfield. She was born on September 3, 1935, in Sylvania to the late Ottis Cubbedge and Laura Adkin Cubbedge. Maudine was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth Johnson; daughter, Connie Turner; siblings, Marion Cubbedge, Louise Parker, Bo Cubbedge, Maxie Mosley, J.W. Cubbedge, Alice Hall, Ruth Shuman, Harold Cubbedge, Doris Claxton, George Cubbedge, Talmadge Cubbedge and Ed Cubbedge.
Maudine was a devout Christian and was a lifelong member of Garfield Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school and enjoyed singing in the choir for many years. God was always first in her life. Being a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother was her greatest joy. Some of her happiest moments were spent cooking Sunday dinners for her family and making memories with the people she loved most.
She is survived by her son, Steve Johnson (Becky) of Canoochee; daughter, Kathy Johnson (Richard) of Garfield; sister, Rosalie Dwelle of Millen; grandchildren, Clay Johnson (Dori), Jodi Marsh (Blake), Amanda Beasley (Brannon), Clint Turner (Natalie), Alicia Johnson (Nicholas), Chad Turner (Marlee), Chase Johnson (Kensley), Brooke Marsh (Rick); 24 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and many friends.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 29, 2026, at Garfield Baptist Church with Reverend Max Alderman officiating, assisted by Reverend Franklin Sasser.
The family will receive friends Thursday, May 28, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Chapman Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Clay Johnson, Chase Johnson, Clint Turner, Chad Turner, Nicholas Johnson and Blake Marsh.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Vada Parker, Jimmy Cowart and Pruitt Hospice for the exceptional care given to their mother.
