Mr. Mickey Tanner, 67, of Swainsboro passed away Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at his residence following an extended illness.
Mr. Tanner was born October 28, 1949 in New Home Community in Johnson County to the late Bennie Ivey Tanner and Mary Lizzie Garner Tanner. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Janice Tanner, brothers, Billy Tanner, J.W. Tanner, Roy Tanner, and Fred Tanner; sister, Mary Ann Fanning. Mr. Tanner was the owner of Mickey’s Upholstery for 40 years. He loved fishing, watching westerns, and riding his tractors.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Tanner of Swainsboro; sons, Jamie Tanner (Tanisha), and Brian Hunter both of Swainsboro; daughters, Deidra Tanner Lamb (Dan), Mary Mitchell (Brian), Allison Tanner, and Billie Tanner all of Swainsboro; brothers, Donald Tanner, and Cecil Tanner both of Kite; sisters, Betty Jackson of Tennille, Barbara Edwards of Wrightsville, Lynn Harrell (Sonny), Judy White both of Canoochee, and Dorothy Claxton of Fairbanks, Alaska; grandchildren, Tyler Tanner, Jarrett Tanner, Rhett Dorsey, Sydney Dorsey, Ryder Lamb, Charley Mitchell, Tanner Mitchell, Zach Hunter, Kaylee Hunter, Remington Lamb, and Tiffany Lamb ; several nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral services will be held in the Chapel of Chapman Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 2, 2016 with Reverend James Tanner officiating.
Interment will follow in the Eastbrook Cemetery and Mausoleum.
Pallbearers are Dale Johnson, Tyler Tanner, Ryder Lamb, Bryan Tanner, Davy Kirby, and Jimmy Braddy.
The family will receive friends from 12 pm. to 2 pm. Friday, December 2, 2016 at Chapman Funeral Home.
