Milton Russell Sheppard

November 12, 1923 — February 20, 2014

Mr. Milton Russell Sheppard, 90, of Kite died Thursday morning, February 20, 2014 at his residence following an extended illness.

Mr. Sheppard was born in Kite to the late Elzie S. Sheppard and Aubrey Tharpe Sheppard and was a life long resident of Johnson County.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Maggie Ruth Price Sheppard; brother, Lamar Sheppard; sister, Elizabeth S. Wheeler.  Mr. Sheppard spent most of his time working on the farm and raising cattle.  He also drove a school bus for Johnson County for 15 years and operated heavy equipment until he retired in 2003 with Howard Sheppard.

Survivors include his daughters, Helen S. (Paris) Dalton and Frances S. (Edward) Lindsey both of Kite; brother, Gordon Sheppard of Kite; 5 grandchildren; 9 Great Grandchildren; 3 Great-Great Grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at the chapel of Chapman Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon, February 22, 2014 with Rev. Arthur Conley officiating.  Interment will be in the New Home Baptist Church Cemetery near Kite.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday evening, February 21, 2014 at Chapman Funeral Home.

Pallbearers are Patrick Dalton, Chad Dalton, Brian Lindsey, Gary Lindsey, Zachary Logue and Jorge Ochoa.
