Mrs. Myrtle “Cricket” Grant Meeks, 87, of Swainsboro passed away Saturday night, April 13, 2013 at the Unit-Health Post Acute Care of Swainsboro following an extended illness.
Mrs. Meeks was born in Johnson County to the late Morris T. Grant, Sr. and Mettie Web Grant. She was preceded in death by her husband, James R. “Nig” Meeks, Sr. ; brothers, Ernest Grant, Kermit Grant, Henry Lee Grant and John Grant; sisters, Alice Poole and Ruby Wilson.
Survivors include her sons, James R. (Virginia) Meeks, Jr. of Rentz and Glenn (Kay) Meeks od Adrian; daughters, Joan (Danny) Mason of Swainsboro and Mary Alice Spivey of Vidalia; brothers, Morris (Dorothy) Grant of Dublin and Horace (Betty) Grant of Aiken SC; 6 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and extended family.
Funeral services and celebration of her life will be held at the chapel of Chapman
Funeral Home at 11 o’clock Wednesday, morning April 17, 2013 with Reverend Lamar Kersey officiating. Burial will be in the Sardis Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to service at Chapman Funeral Home.
