Ms. Patricia Ann Johnson, 71, of Dublin passed away Monday, October 19, 2026, at Community Hospice in Vidalia. She was born on October 16, 1955, in Marietta to the late Anna Bell Childers. Patricia was preceded in death by her mother; son, Chris Slaton; and 2 brothers.
“Ms. Pat” for those who didn’t know her, “Mama”, “Nana”, and “Nanny” for those of us who held her close. Born October 16, 1955. She was one of the strongest women I’ve known. She completed a degree in computer science in the 1990s. During this time, she was a mother of 3, a grandmother, and a friend to many.
Ms. Patricia battled breast cancer in 2007 and came out ringing the bell. Even during her long fight with heart failure, against the odds when diagnosed with 6 months 2 years ago, she continued her fight. Her love for her family kept her strong throughout her struggles. As a mother and nana, she started the tradition of long rides, music, and singing. Most days, there was no destination, no reason, just to simply ride. She would sing with her children and sing with her grandchildren. Once her grandchildren became older, she would finally sit passenger and sing with her great grandchildren. It was known that she started the tradition of riding with the windows down and music blaring, just to have everyone singing at the top of their lungs, smiling, laughing, and having fun. She loved her family dearly, and nobody can forget her dog, Red. Red was with her every step. She gave her dog the life any person could only dream of living. Cooked meals, personal snacks, and Christmas presents! Her dog was her baby, and if you knew Ms. Pat, then you knew Red.
Ms. Patricia’s personality led her to many friendships. She befriended each nursing aid, doctor, and vet. She was full of spunk, attitude, love, and care for everyone she met. She never met a stranger. Everyone was a friend, and everyone heard about her family. If there was one thing she enjoyed doing other than shopping, it was bragging on the accomplishments of those she loves. To know Ms. Pat, mama, nana, and nanny, is to know someone who had the cutest smile that would always put a smile on your face. She was truly loved.
Survivors include her daughter, Kim Johnson-Smith (Casey) of Cobbtown; son, Daniel Lane (Julia) of Kite; bonus daughter, Megan Slaton; 20 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and many friends.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 23, 2026, at 6:00 P.M. in the chapel of Chapman Funeral Home.
