Paul Erwin Blackburn, aged 90, passed away after a life richly lived and full of adventure. He was born in Swainsboro on September 13, 1935, to the late Elmo Blackburn and Nora Mae Scott Blackburn. A devoted believer in Jesus Christ, Paul was a faithful and dedicated member of Twin City First Baptist Church, where he was actively involved in the Brotherhood. He enjoyed participating in the Sportsman’s Club. His faith guided his life and relationships, and he lived it out through service, integrity, and love for others.
An avid outdoorsman, Paul found great joy in hunting and fishing, embracing the beauty of God’s creation throughout his life. He was a dedicated professional who served as the head of Dixie Reader Service before retiring and beginning a second career in the field of probation as a private probation officer. His strong work ethic, leadership, and sense of responsibility marked both chapters of his career.
Above all, Paul was a devoted father and a loving grandfather, brother, Uncle, and cousin. He took immense pride in his family and was a constant source of encouragement, faithfully supporting and cheering on his loved ones at sporting events and in all of life’s pursuits. His steady presence, adventurous spirit, deep faith, and unwavering support will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents; son, Tony Blackburn; brother, Ralph Blackburn and sister, Annette Anderson.
Survivors include his sons, Matt Blackburn (Morgan), Michael Harley Blackburn (Penny), Mike Britton (Bridget); daughters, Paula Blackburn, Sharon Warren (David; sister, Betty Johnson; 14 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many friends.
Funeral Services will be 3:00 p.m. Sunday, January 25, 2026, in the chapel of Chapman Funeral Home with Reverend Randall Smith officiating, assisted by Reverend Stewart Moody.
Interment will be at Swainsboro City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. Sunday, January 25, 2026.
Pallbearers include Brandon Jones, Ethan Conway, WC Grimes, Jim Mercer, Phillip Rehberg, and Cliff Mason.
Honorary Pallbearers include Twin City First Baptist Church Brotherhood and Twin City Methodist Church Men.
