Chief Paul B. Jordan, 61, of Swainsboro passed away Saturday, May 16, 2026, at East Georgia Regional Medical Center in Statesboro. He was born July 22, 1964, in Swainsboro to the late Otis Jordan, Sr. and Lizzie Lee Wright Jordan. Paul was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Otis Jordan, Jr. and James L. Jordan.
At an early age he joined Brown Chapel Baptist Church and later moved his membership to the Lester Grove Missionary Baptist Church where he also was the musician for the Youth Choir. Paul was also a member of the organization Men Reaching Men.
He became a Swainsboro Police Officer n August 14, 1986, where he spent 26 years of service. He also was a Deputy Sheriff for some time. From the start of his journey policing, he had accomplished so much. Paul became the Chief of Police in Stillmore on November 21, 1996, to 2003. Stillmore did not have a police department, so he had to start from scratch. He built that department and it has been thriving ever since. Paul moved further down the road and became the Chief of Police of Wadley on December 8, 2003, to 2008. Soon after he retired from Wadley, he was called to come to Metter to become their interim chief. After finishing his time in Metter, he went back to Wadley to serve there as their interim chief from October 10, 2022, till he retired on August 29, 2024, for medical reasons.
Paul also has many other accomplishments: Peace Officer Standard and Training, Georgia Public Safety Training Center, Federal Emergency Management Agency, Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police, Tactical Baton, U.S. Department of Justice Federal Bureau of Investigation, Georgia Crime Information Center of Uniform Crime Reporting, Georgia Public Safety Training Center, Security and Integrity of Criminal Justice Information, Armstrong Atlantic State University Law Enforcement Special Operations, Advanced Taser Conducted Energy Weapon and Emergency Management Institute Fema.
Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Lanell Jordan of Swainsboro; sons, Nicholas Jordan (Beatrice), D’Angelo Jordan (Jada), both of Swainsboro; daughter, Jamia Jordan of Swainsboro brother, Michael Jordan of Swainsboro; sister, Denise Jordan of Swainsboro; grandchildren, Italy Jordan, Kyrie Jordan; Goddaughter, Erin Rackins of Swainsboro; several nieces, nephews and many friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at St. Philip Baptist Church with Pastor Charles Holloway officiating.
Interment will follow in Swainsboro City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Friday, May 22, 2026, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Chapman Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be nephews.
