Pearl Kersey Jones

February 23, 1924 — November 24, 2016

Ms. Pearl Kersey Jones 92, of Swainsboro passed away Thursday, November 24, 2016 at Emanuel County Nursing Home following an extended illness.

Ms. Jones was born February 23, 1924 in Swainsboro, Ga. to the late Tom Buck Kersey and Naomi Kersey.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Jones; son, Loran Jones. Ms. Jones was a lifelong resident of Emanuel County. She loved sewing, gardening, and singing in the church choir. Ms. Jones was a member of Sardis Primitive Baptist Church.

Survivors include her sons, Wailand (Pat) Jones of Norristown, and Wayne (Linda) Jones of Macon; daughters, Carol (Steve) Powell of Adrian, and Karen (Charles) Crowder of Swainsboro; 8 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and friends.

Funeral services will be held at Sardis Primitive Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 26, 2016 with Elder Lindy Webb, Jr. and Rev. David Kersey officiating. Ms. Jones will lie in state one hour prior to service.

Interment will follow in the Sardis Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Alton Henry, Robert Henry, Brad Jones, Mitchell Moore, Scott Jones, and Tom Kersey.

Honorary Pallbearers are Steve Jones, Elmer Blizzard, Harvey Anders, Lavon Amerson, and Royce Kersey.

The family will receive friends from 6 pm. to 8 pm. Friday, November 25, 2016 at Chapman Funeral Home.
