Ray Rufus Henry

Mr. Ray Rufus Henry, 95, of Kite passed away Friday night, February 23, 2018 at Vero Health & Rehab following an extended illness.

Mr. Henry was born May 18, 1922 in Swainsboro, Ga. to the late Rufus Lester Henry and Leila Hudson Henry. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Ronnie Ray Henry; sisters, Violet Perkins, and Eloise Wright; brothers, Carl Henry, Barney Henry, and Ted Henry. Mr. Henry joined the United States Navy in 1942 and received the Philippine Liberation Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Theatre Ribbon, European African Theatre Ribbon, American Theatre Ribbon, and the Victory Medal. He was the owner of Timber Harvesting, co-owner of Henry Farms, and a retired land & forestry manager for the L.F.G. Company for 25 years.Mr. Henry enjoyed being outdoors, hunting and fishing. He loved the Lord, his family, and Church family. Mr. Henry was a lifelong member of Hebron Baptist Church and Head Deacon for 55 years.

Survivors include his son, Ricky G. Henry (Carol) of Kite; daughter, Rita Henry Hayes of Adrian; brothers, Jesse Darwin “JD” Henry (Nora) of Metter, and Eugene Talmadge “Gene” Henry (Sherry) of Girard, Ga; grandchildren, Randy M. Hayes (Leslie), Forrest Hayes, Luke Henry, and Paige Neely (B.J.); great-grandchildren, Lawson Neely, and Katy Davis; several nieces, nephews, and friends.

Funeral Services will be at Hebron Baptist Church 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 27, 2018 with Reverends Ervin Stapleton and Randy Hayes officiating.

Interment will follow in the Lamb Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 2p.m. Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at Hebron Baptist Church.

Pallbearers are Henry Gambrell, J.H. Meeks, Thomas Henry, Mike Henry, Rev. Shannon Boula, and Mickey Flanders.

Honorary Pallbearers are Joey Lamb, Rev. Harvard Hudson, Jimmy Wilson, Rev. Bunny Hudson, Lynn Nasworthy, and Buddy Lawson.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Gideons International P.O. Box 365 Swainsboro, Ga. 30401.
