Ricky Lee Yates

Mr. Ricky Lee Yates, 62, of Garfield peacefully took his last breath Monday, March 14, 2022, at Emanuel Medical Center in Swainsboro with his loving wife by his side.

Mr. Yates was born August 14, 1959, in Norfolk, VA to Herbert Yates and Lessie Stanley Yates. He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Abbie Grimes; sisters, Debra Sue Yates and Trula Bea Owens. Mr. Yates loved hunting, fishing, and being outside. He enjoyed building things and watching football. Mr. Yates was a devoted husband and daddy. His grandchildren were the light of his life. Mr. Yates retired from Fulghum Industries. He was a member the Brotherhood at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church in Garfield for 12 years.

Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Vicki L. Yates of Garfield; daughters, Robin Grimes (B.J.) of Garfield, Laura Overstreet (Freddie) of Sylvania; grandchildren, Chandler Grimes, Chelsie Grimes, Berkley Overstreet; brothers, Roger Yates, Ronald Yates (Linda) of McCormick, SC, Glen Yates; several nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 17, 2022, at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church with Reverend Randy Adams and Reverend Randy Graham officiating.

Interment will follow in Mt. Olivet Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday, March 17, 2022, at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church.

Pallbearers will be Howard Lane, Tim Holt, Darryl Drake, Billy Brinson, Randy Oglesby, Sr., and David Alexander.
