Mr. Robert C. “Bobby” Kent, Jr., 69, of Garfield died Friday, December 23, 2011 at the Ogeechee Area Hospice in Statesboro following an extended illness.
Mr. Kent was born in Jenkins County and was a life long resident of Garfield. He was preceded in death by his parents Clinton Kent and Ruth Johnson Kent, and wife, Patsy S. Kent.
Mr. Kent loved spending time with his grandchildren and taking care of the animals on the farm. He enjoyed watching football and baseball. His favorite teams were the Atlanta Falcons, Georgia Bulldogs and Atlanta Braves. He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his daughters, Karen Kent (Daniel) Moxley of Garfield, Kathy Ann (Darrell) McClung of Sumner GA; sisters, Annette Wilson, Helen (Wayne) Harper, Brenda (Edward) Williford all of Garfield; 5 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church at 2 o’clock Tuesday, afternoon December 27, 2011 with Reverends Randy Adams and Ray Freeman officiating. Mr. Kent will Lie in State one hour prior to service. Burial will be in the Hebron Baptist Church Cemetery in Garfield.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday December 26, 2011 at Chapman Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Brad Williford, Chad Harper, Brian Harper, Josh Stephens, Billy Wilson, and Chris Ellison.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Jerry Williamson, Craig Johnson, Richard Johnson, Roger Johnson, Larry Hall, Donny Hendley and Carl Wendell Johnson.
