Robertha "Bert" Gadson

“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth, there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day; and not to me only, but unto all them also that love His appearing.” 2 Timothy 4:7-8

Ms. Robertha Gadson, affectionately known as “Bert” entered this world of pain and suffering on December 18, 1950. Born to the parentage of the late Mr. Sam Gadson and Mrs. Sally Bradley Gadson. On July 20, 2026, God saw fit to move her to another dimension (depth). One of peace, where “the wicked cease from trouble and the weary be at rest.” Where there is peace in the grave, away from turmoil and oppressions of life.

Bert was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Robert Jones and Jessie James Gadson: one sister, Carolyn Gadson Boatwright.

Bert was a loving and affectionate person who loved life and living. She enjoyed people, dancing and, just enjoying life. She was very outgoing and caring. She loved her family and those whom she chose to invite into her life as family.

Bert was educated in the schools of Emanuel County. During lifetime, she was employed at various jobs, as her health would allow.

Over the years, Bert opened her home to family members who were in need of a loving and safe home.

Bert leaves a legacy of love to her son, James (LaTina) Parker of Swainsboro, GA: a son, Christopher (Dedrica) Woods of Hinesville, GA: two daughters, Tamika Woods of Swainsboro, GA; Justine Woods of Midville, GA; one brother, Joseph “Bo” Gadson of Swainsboro, GA; two sisters Josephine “Mary” Jackson of Canoochee, GA, and Eaenestine Reese of Millen, GA; a special friend, David Thomas of Millen, GA; four grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

Visitation will be held on Thursday evening, July 23, 2026, at Chapman Funeral Home from 5:00pm until 7:00pm.

Homegoing services will be held at 11:00am, Friday, July 24, 2026, at the Greater Saint James Missionary Baptist Church.

Interment will follow in the Lane Grove Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Millen.

Pallbearers are Tony Wood, Andre Jackson, Terrance Gadson, Mark Gadson, D’Andre Jackson, Jaquavious Woods.

Flower bearers will be family and friends.
