Roderick "Rick" Griner

Mr. Roderick F. “Rick” Griner, 60, of Twin City passed away Sunday afternoon, January 29, 2017 at Emanuel Medical Center following a brief illness.

Mr. Griner was born July 6, 1956 in Charleston, S.C. to Robert “Bob” Griner and the late Eileen Phillips Wasden. He was preceded in death by his Mother; step-father, J.B. Wasden; sister-in-law, Diane Faircloth; brother-in-law, James Faircloth. Mr. Griner graduated Swainsboro High School in 1974, two years later he enlisted in the United States Navy spending 20 years retiring in 1996 as a Lieutenant. He loved hunting, fishing, flying model airplanes, and especially spending time with his grandchildren. Mr. Griner was a member of Swainsboro Masonic Lodge #244, Alee Shrine Temple, and 3% Patriot Group. He was also a Member of Emanuel Christian Ministries.

Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Jennie Griner of Twin City; son, Chris Griner (Brandi) of Swainsboro; daughter, Mallisa Griner of Twin City; father, Robert F. “Bob” Griner (Denise) of Twin City; brother, Craig Griner (Lisa) of Twin City; sisters, Debra Griner of Conyers, and Linda Watson (Joe) of Twin City; grandchildren, Ansley Braddock, Timothy Braddock, Brittany Claxton, Trey Claxton, Addison Griner, Ethan Claxton, and Jameson Griner; aunt, Hazel Boyd of Moultrie; sister-in-law, Kay Faircloth of Atlanta; special aunt, Mickey George of Fletcher, N.C.; several nieces, nephews, and friends who he loved very much.

Funeral services with Masonic Rites will be held in the Chapel of Chapman Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 2, 2017 with Reverend Phil Wilson and Elder Tommy Rountree officiating.

Interment will follow in the Eastbrook Cemetery & Mausoleum with full Military Honors.

Pallbearers are David Way, Mark Kirby, Darin Griner, Jason Griner, Robert Telgen, Elec Wheeler, Rick Jordan, Robbie Kasper.


Honorary Pallbearers are Emanuel County Sheriff’s Office, and Squadron Mates.

The family will receive friends from 6 pm. to 8 pm. Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at Chapman Funeral Home.

The family will be meeting at the residence of Chris & Brandi Griner  74 Robin Blvd. Swainsboro.
