Mr. Roger E. Rowland, 81, of Swainsboro passed away Saturday, July 31, 2021, at his residence following an extended illness.
Mr. Rowland was born March 4, 1940, in Emanuel County to the late John Stanley Rowland and Jewel Fagler Rowland. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife and mother of his children, Mary Frances Rowland; brother, Clyde Rowland; sister, Mildred Harper. Mr. Rowland retired from Thermo King in Louisville after working more than 30 years. After retirement, he could be found working around the house, yard, and garden. Mr. Rowland was good at everything he did, including mechanic work and farming. He enjoyed fishing and visiting the mountains. Mr. Rowland especially loved his family. He was a member, layspeaker, and deacon at Bithynia Primitive Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy Peebles Rowland of Swainsboro; sons, Robert (Lydia) Rowland and Johnny (Page) Rowland, both of Midville, Gary (Melinda) Rowland of Kite, Chris (Valarie) Henry of Greensboro, NC; daughters, Brenda Coleman of Perkins, Jane (Paul) Bell of Swainsboro; sisters, Joan Gross of Swainsboro, June Walls of Savannah; 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 3, 2021, in the Chapel of Chapman Funeral Home with Reverend Tommy Henry and Mr. Gerald Henry officiating.
Interment will follow at Bithynia Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, August 2, 2021 at Chapman Funeral Home.
Pallbearers are Glen McKenzie, Ira Coleman, Allen Amerson, Clint Rowland, Cody Cavannah, and Tim Harrell.
