Ronnie Haylett

February 27, 1941 — April 8, 2021

Kite

Mr. Ronnie Haylett, 80, of Kite passed away Thursday, April 8, 2021 at Serenity Hospice in Dublin from an extended illness.

Mr. Haylett was born February 27, 1941 in Ocala, Florida to his loving parents Vance Haylett and Thelma Nipper Haylett and raised in a Christian home. He was preceded in death by his parents and infant brother, Robert Haylett. Ronnie thrived growing up in rural Central Florida, he spent many days swimming in the nearby Silver River.  He was eyewitness to much of the filming of the Tarzan movie as he swam in the river at Silver Springs.

He grew up strong and ran track, graduating from Ocala High School.  Afterward, he served his country by enlisting in the U. S. Army.  Later, after many years of dedicated work ethic, he retired from Publix grocery warehouse in Jacksonville, FL.  Simultaneously, he also served numerous congregations in the Church of God as a minister of music, and also was a perennial favorite to lead the mass choir at the yearly Church of God Florida State Camp Meeting.

At Evangel Temple Assembly of God in Jacksonville, he served faithfully on the usher board and enthusiastically greeted worshippers each Lord’s Day.  Sacred music was his passion, but he also enjoyed football, flower gardening, and spending time with his beloved wife Wanda, daughter Regina and his entire family.  He was a simple but Godly man that had a huge heart of compassion.  He truly lived out Jesus’ command to “Love God and Love thy neighbor”.  His absence leaves a huge hole in our hearts, but we are anchored by the blessed assurance Ronnie is in heaven and we will be reunited again with him there at God’s appointed time.  He was a faithful member of Blackville Church of God.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Wanda Haylett of Kite; daughter, Regina Akins (Dr. Tom) of Wrightsville; grand-daughters, Hannah Akins of High Springs, Florida, Jesse Kate Akins of Wrightsville; great-grandchildren, Ruby Allman, Henry Beau Allman; sister, Linda Rosenblatt of Glen St. Mary’s Florida; 3 nieces and 1 nephew.
