Mrs. Sabrena Pecora Smith, 50, of Atlanta passed away Monday, September 13, 2021 at Piedmont Atlanta Hospital following a brief illness.
Mrs. Smith was born October 24, 1970 in Swainsboro to the late Jessie Thomas and Verita Green Phillips. She was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, James Phillips Sr.; brother, James Phillips Jr.; sister, Tammy Phillips. Sabrena was not a complex being but worked hard as a single mother to raise three sons in the city of Atlanta. She often enjoyed reading books, helping others, being a foodie, going on trips whenever possible and scratching off lottery tickets. Wanting more options for her family and self, she chose to get a medical assistant degree from Baulder College. Sabrena supported her children the best way she knew how and didn’t consider herself perfect but rather blessed. Blessed to have friends and family that cherished and cared about her deeply. Sabrena was a compassionate being who often did selfless acts because she was able to and she did not ask for anything in return. She would often say, “God got me.” She was strict on her sons but a big teddy bear to her grandchildren. She could curse worse than a sailor at times but still be amongst the classiest in the room. She brought great joy to many people and no one will let you forget.”
Survivors include her stepmother, Linda Roberts; sons, Rodriquez Gunn, Jacquez Smith, Jaimison Smith all of Atlanta; brother, Antonio Phillips; sister, Klassie Robinson both of Swainsboro; grandchildren, Nicholas Gunn, London Gunn, Marcinelle Hamilton, Owen Hamilton; several nieces, nephews, and many friends.
