Sam Brown

Samuel ¨Sam¨ Lester Brown, age 66, of Twin City, GA passed away June 20th, 2024 from injuries sustained from a motorcycle accident.

Sam attended public school at Emanuel County Institute before beginning studies at Georgia Military College. After his high school graduation at GMC in 1975, he continued for the first two years of his university studies. From there he transferred to Georgia Southern University to complete his bachelor's degree and join the United States Army as an officer. A lifelong learner, he took a pause from his military career during his children's school years and returned to Georgia Southern to acquire his bachelor's degree in education, after which he taught high school English at West Laurens High School in Dublin, GA. He remained in the Army Reserves during this time, and following the events of 9/11, was called to active duty where he completed two tours before retiring for the final time. His time in the Army carried him across the globe many times over during his 39-year career. A proud Army Ranger, he retired as a chaplain's assistant with the 5th Special Forces Group. He loved his country, and its defense was his lifelong mission. His heart however, remained in Canoochee, GA. In his retirement he built his cabin in the woods that he had spent his life dreaming of on the land that he loved, the land his father farmed. A highly proficient marksman, he had an unwavering passion for firearms, the outdoors, and anything with a fast engine. He lived for the sound of shots hitting their targets and the freedom of feeling the wind on his back as he rode down the winding country roads.

Sam is survived by his loyal wife Kathy, his son Ian and daughter-in-law Céline, and his daughter Jenni and son-in-law Michael who will forever miss their "Floyd", and his grandchildren Liam, Abigail, Kyle, and Asher will dearly miss their beloved "Pap".

Mr. Brown was born August 11, 1957, in Augusta to the late Alvah Brown, Jr. and Mabel Allmond Brown. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Tom Brown.

Funeral Services will be 11:00 A.M Monday, June 24, 2024, at Twin City Methodist Church with Rev. Randall Smith and Mr. Joey Bohannon officiating.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M., Monday, June 24, 2024, at Twin City Methodist Church

Interment will follow in Noonday Cemetery with full military honors.

Pallbearers will be Nick Krauss, Jeffrey Brewer, Logan Tapley, Luke Tapley, Evan Tapley, and Greg Johnson.
