Sammy "Sambo" Sconyers, Jr.

Mr. Sammy “Sambo” Sconyers, Jr., 63, of Twin City passed away on Sunday, August 2, 2026, at WellStar MCG Medical Center in Augusta after a tragic accident. He was born on November 17, 1962, in Swainsboro. Sambo was the son of the late Luther and Faye Sconyers of Swainsboro and a lifelong resident of Emanuel County.

Sambo was the Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother and Uncle to many. His greatest love was his Family, and his greatest joys came from spending time with his family. Sambo enjoyed football season, grilling, gardening, and most of all, the special gatherings we would come together and have, especially during Thanksgiving and his famous “Oysters” on Thanksgiving evening. He always knew how to listen without judgment, encouraged with a thoughtful positive attitude and he always gave the best advice.

Sambo will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and work family at Emanuel Peanut and Grain. His tragic passing will forever leave a scar on those he cherished, but we know that he is resting peacefully and watching over us as we continue with this loss. And as the family of this most wonderful, genuine man, we will forever be thankful for the time we had with him and continue to remind ourselves of the great memories and we promise him that we will live, love, and laugh as he watches over us from above.

Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Barbara M. Sconyers of Twin City; daughter, Geisha English (Angel) of Twin City; grandchildren, Makaileigh Handsom and Ty Sean Handsom; sisters, Sandra Wright (Dale) of Swainsboro, Sylvia Sconyers of Twin City; special niece, Jodi Reynolds; several nieces, nephews and many friends.

A Celebration of Life will be at a later date.
