“A Life Remembered’
On June 10th, 2025, Stephanie Day entered into peaceful rest after a life-well lived and was deeply cherished by all who knew her. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend known for her loving words of encouragement and a non-judgmental heart.
Born on July 8th in New Jersey, Stephanie built a life filled with love, dedication, and compassion. She devoted 21 years to Crider Poultry. Prior to her long career journey, she explored modeling and had a passion for fashion. Stephanie could dress her butt off. A Northern girl through and through, she was known for her luxurious mink coats, signature pixie cut, fabulous nails, and the latest shoes. She wasn’t just familiar with fashion, she owned it.
Her fashion wasn’t just about clothes; it was about expression. She embraced style with the same fearlessness she embraced life always with confidence, always with style, and always leaving a lasting impression. Mommy had an adventurous soul. She welcomed new experiences with excitement and curiosity, never afraid to step outside her comfort zone. Whether she was traveling, trying something unexpected, or simply embracing life’s little joys, she did it with enthusiasm. She touched the lives of many with her warmth, wisdom, and enduring love for her family and friends. Her laughter was a melody, her words a source of comfort, and her presence a gift beyond measure.
Stephanie is preceded in death by her mother and father, Robert and Bernice King and 2 siblings, Seabronica McCue (sister) and Ricardo McCue (brother). She is survived by 3 siblings Frankie King (brother), Rebecca Black (sister), Stacey Gant (sister). She leaves behind 3 children her son Anthony Wright, and two daughters Salahadina Wright-Brown and Ayana Wright, 12 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, one god-daughter and a host of nieces and nephews who will carry forward her love and lessons. Though she has left this earthly realm, her spirit remains, whispering to us in moments of quiet reflection and joyful remembrance.
Stephanie was the queen of nicknames and when she named you, it was her way of stamping you as part of her family. To know her was to experience a space free from judgment, where your story was heard, and your burdens were lightened. She had a rare gift: the ability to take what you felt shameful about and help you see it as something you could face with courage.
We later learned that at the job she dedicated 21 years to, her nickname was “Grandma.” That simple name carried profound meaning and it showed that the love she gave was reciprocated, that others saw her as family just as she saw them.
Stephanie was a force of resilience. She met adversity with strength and never let negativity take root in her life or the lives of those around her. She was quick to shift a discouraging thought into one of hope, and she never hesitated to remind others to do the same. Her presence had a way of dissolving disappointment, wrapping you in love and reassurance. Her legacy is one of unconditional love, unwavering kindness, and the ability to make everyone feel like they belonged.
In honor of her life, we share the words of Maya Angelou’s poem, *When Great Trees Fall*:
*"And when great souls die, after a period
peace blooms, slowly and always irregularly.
Spaces fill with a kind of soothing electric vibration.
Our senses, restored, never to be the same, whisper to us.
They existed. They existed.
We can be. Be and be better.
For they existed."*
Her love endures, her light remains, and her story continues in the hearts of all who cherish her.
