Steve Akridge

Mr. Steve Akridge, 58, of Swainsboro passed away Sunday, March 3, 2024, at Emanuel Medical Center.

Steve was born August 20, 1965, in Louisville to Elzie Akridge and Ellen Jackson Gay.  He was preceded in death by his infant sisters, Pamela and Patricia Akridge.

On March 26, 1983, he married Emma Collins and had two children, Dustin was his pride and joy, and Rebecca “Becca” was his blonde haired hazel eyed beauty. Mr. Steve was so proud with both his children graduated high school. He worked at Boulineau’s Cabinet, Hertz Penske, Twin City Quality Buildings, Colcraft, and Criders where he was a welder.

Mr. Steve loved spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed playing baseball with his son, Dustin and fishing. One of the happiest days of his life was when his grandson, Kainon was born. He loved spoiling him with gifts and Kainon sure loved his “Gampa”. He never missed a birthday party where he was always smiling, watching when his gift was the one being opened. When Mr. Steve’s granddaughter, Lakota was born, she was the light of his life and soon turned into his little sidekick.

Mr. Steve attended New Beginnings Church.

Elzie Steve Akridge, known to most as Wormy, was a friendly person. He was a very dedicated grandfather. His greatest joy was watching his grandbabies, nieces, and nephews grow up. He loved the lord and enjoyed reading his bible. He was loved by all.

Survivors include his mother, Ellen Gay of Twin City; father, Elzie Akridge of Soperton; son, Dustin Akridge of Twin City; daughter, Rebecca Ducker (Curt) of Twin City; grandchildren, Kainon Ducker and Lakota Ducker; sisters, Denice Kirby (Steve) of Nunez, Dena Clifton (Brent) of Twin City, Jamie Simoes (Thiago) and Renee Bush (Shannon), both of Swainsboro, several nieces, nephews and many friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 7, 2024, in the chapel of Chapman Funeral Home with Reverend Tim Price officiating.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at Chapman Funeral Home.

Interment will follow at Lamb Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Timmy Oliver, Christopher Clifton, David Akridge, Clint Akridge, Tommy Kirby and Tyler Bedgood.
