In the early morning of Thursday, October 28, 2021, Thiều Quốc Vũ, was called home at the age of 65 in Swainsboro, Georgia.
Thiều was born in Saigon, Vietnam to Luyện Đình Vũ and Xuyến Thị Nguyền. He was baptized in Vietnam with the saint’s name of John the Baptist. Thiều followed his family to Salinas, Kansas, but found his way to Juneau, Alaska where he started a family with his wife, Agnes Vu, and spent much of his adult life.
Thiều was known to many as a man who loved to have a good time and make others laugh. His self-confidence knew no bounds and one could not help but smile when he entered a room. He had a knack for fishing, playing billiards, darts and winning local competitions in Juneau, Alaska, which also brought him to compete in Las Vegas. The latter part of Thiều’s life included residing in a small Georgian town where he was known as a very kind man.
Thiều was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Lịch Vũ, Hàng Vũ, and Vòng Vũ. He is survived by his siblings Kimanh Vũ Tang, Hoàng Nguyễn Vũ, Biền Tiến Vũ, Hài Đình Vũ, and Thào Đình Vũ; daughters Vanessa (Nathan) Menah and Suzette (Nicholas) Nelson; and grandchildren Lucas Rader as well as Sebastian and Augustus Nelson.
A memorial service will be planned in the springtime for close family. In lieu of flowers, his family requests a charitable donation in Thiều’s name to the American Liver Foundation.
