Mr. Tommie Lee Givens, 74, of Swainsboro passed away Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at his residence following an extended illness. He was born on July 24, 1951, in Norristown to the late James Shipman and Annie P. Givens. Tommie was preceded in death by his parents; son, Bernie M. Givens; sisters, Julia Bell Shipman, Adine Shipman; brothers, James Givens, Sylvester Givens, Charlie Givens.

Tommie Givens was a hardworking man who built his life with his hands and his heart. He was a welder by trade, skilled in blueprint reading, and spent over 30 years at Fulghum Industries, where he proudly served as foreman over the crane shop. His work ethic was unmatched, but what mattered most to him was family. He had an immeasurable love for his four sons—a love so deep it can’t fully be put into words. He would do anything for anyone, truly the kind of man who would give you the shirt off his back without hesitation. He was always joking, always finding ways to make people smile and laugh, and he brought light into every room he entered. And while he could be as stubborn as he wanted to be, he lived life his way—strong, honest, and unapologetically himself. That’s who he was, and that’s how we will always remember him.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Sheila P. Givens; sons, Tommy Lee Givens, Jr., Zebadiah E. Givens, Derrick L. Givens; brothers, Billy Givens, Matthew Givens; sisters, Dorothy Wicker, Donnell Cross, Tuesday Bynes; 6 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and many friends.

Memorial Service will be 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 3, 2026, in the chapel of Chapman Funeral Home with Reverend Mark Hardin officiating.
