Trudy Marcelle Godwin

Trudy Marcelle Godwin, lovingly known as “Marcelle,” passed away on May 13, 2026, at the age of 70. She was born on January 17, 1956, to Joe Mason and Thelma Faircloth Mason.

Marcelle was a woman of many talents and passions. She loved playing softball and golf, fishing, card games, and most of all, spending time with her family.

She had a gift for building and repairing almost anything with her hands. Throughout her life she worked many different jobs, eventually retiring as a contractor, but the roles she treasured most were being a Mother, Nana, and Aunt.

She is survived by her son, Bobby Godwin (Jennifer); grandchildren, Chelsea Godwin and Brandon Godwin; brothers, Larry Durden and Leonard Mason; brother-in-law, GA Malone; along with several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Thelma Mason; sisters, Sandra, Faye, and Deborah; and brother, Tracy.

Visitation will be held Sunday at 3:00 p.m. for family and friends, with funeral services beginning at 4:00 p.m. in the chapel of Chapman Funeral Home with Reverend DeWayne Cope presiding.

 Interment will follow in Swainsboro City Cemetery.  

Pallbearers will be Derek Mason, Bryant Mason, Dylan Mason, Hunter Mason, Carson Mason, and Brandon Godwin.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made payable to American Legion Post 90, P.O. Box 443, Statesboro, GA 30459, where the love of her life, her son, volunteers tirelessly serving veterans and the local community.
