Mrs. Vernelle Coleman Iler, 90, of Eatonton, passed away, Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at her residence.
Mrs. Iler was born February 21, 1933, in Vidalia to the late Vernon Webb and Nell Davis Donaldson. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Bobby E. Coleman, and James Iler; sister, Vivian Donaldson.
Vernelle was born in Toombs County, Georgia. Where she lived during early childhood. She then moved to Hollywood, FL. There she attended and graduated from Broward County High School.
She later moved back to Twin City, Georgia after finishing school. There she met and married the love of her life, Bobby E Coleman. Together they had two children. After the death of Bobby, she married James Iler of Pooler Georgia.
During her career she was employed by Creston Mills and later by Roper as shipping secretary. She always enjoyed her work and the people she came in contact with on the job.
Vernelle loved shopping, sewing, and riding her white Honda Dream motorcycle. But most of all she loved and cherished her family.
Vernelle spent the last years of her life fishing and relaxing at her home on Lake Sinclair in Putnam County Georgia.
She is survived by her son, Barry Coleman (Debbie) of Swainsboro; daughter, Deborah Baird (Lee) of Eatonton; brother, Gordon Donaldson of Heflin, AL; grandchildren, Crystal Pope, Jason Baird (Brandy), Addison Coleman (Megan), Ashton Coleman (Jorie); great grandson, Braedon Pope; several nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Funeral Services will be 2:00 P.M., Friday, February 9, 2024, in the Chapel of Chapman Funeral Home with Reverand Brandon Witt officiating, assisted by Dr. Jerry Pickard.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M., Friday, February 9, 2024, at Chapman Funeral Home.
Interment will follow in Old Canoochee Primitive Baptist Church.
Pallbearers are Addison Coleman, Ashton Coleman, Braeden Pope, and Lee Baird.
