Mr. Villian “Coon” Screws, 80, of Wadley died Saturday night, March 22, 2014 at his daughter’s residence in Glennville following an extended illness.
Mr. Screws was born in Wadley to the late Willie Nelson Screws and Mattie McNeely Screws. Mr. Screws was a life long resident of Jefferson County. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Screws; brothers, Carter Screws, Elwyn Screws and Raymond Screws; sisters, Fairie Mae Way and Annie Bell Fennell. Mr. Screws was employed with the Emanuel County Road Maintenance Shop as a diesel mechanic until he retired in 2004. He attended Williams Chapel Baptist Church in Kite.
Survivors include his daughters, Wanda (Lonnie) Smith of Swainsboro and Melanie (Pasi) Arponen of Glennville; grandchildren; Ashley (Dan) Brett of Wadley, Kyle Smith of Swainsboro, Sarah (Allen) Parker of Glennville and Tyler Arponen of Glennville; and other family members and friends.
uneral services will be held at the chapel of Chapman Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, March 25, 2014 with Rev. Lamar Kersey officiating. Interment will be in the Forest Lawn Cemetery near Dellwood.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday evening, March 24, 2014 at Chapman Funeral Home.
