A Celebration of Life Vincent Antonio Green Sr.
Affectionately Known as "Grip"
Sunrise: June 7, 1972 | Sunset: October 13, 2026
In Loving Memory
With heartfelt sadness and love, the family of Vincent Antonio Green Sr., affectionately known as "Grip," announces his passing on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at the age of 54. Vincent was born on June 7, 1972, to Christine Ferrell and the late Lemul Green. He also shared a special bond with the late Roberta Green, whom he lovingly called "Mom/G-Ma." A resident of Swainsboro, Georgia, Vincent attended the public schools of Emanuel County. Vincent was known and loved for his hardworking nature, strong determination, and independent spirit. He believed in making an honest living and providing for his family. He dedicated 11 years of service to Battle Lumber Company before his declining health forced him to step away from his employment. However, anyone who knew Vince knew that giving up was never his style. Despite his health challenges, he refused to allow his circumstances to define him. With determination and an entrepreneurial spirit, he established his own stump grinding business, Grindin' with Grip, LLC. His business was more than a way to earn a living; it represented his strength, perseverance, and willingness to keep pushing forward regardless of life's obstacles. His illness may have slowed his body, but it never defeated his spirit. Vincent was a Christian at heart who believed in the power of prayer and the Word of God. He knew the Scriptures and carried his faith within him. Prayer was an important part of Vincent's daily life. He prayed faithfully every day, and each night he said a special prayer for his family, asking God to watch over, protect, and guide those he loved. His daily devotion was a reflection of his faith and the deep love he had for his family. Though his voice may now be silent, the prayers he prayed and the faith he carried will forever remain a treasured part of his legacy. Above all, Vincent was a family man who cherished those closest to his heart. He was a husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He shared his life with his devoted wife, Lindsay Green, who stood beside him through life's joys, challenges, and difficult seasons. His love for his children and grandchildren was an important part of who he was, and he took pride in the family and legacy he built.
Vincent was preceded in death by his father, Lemul Green, and the late Roberta Green, whom he affectionately called "Mom/G-Mа." Vincent leaves to cherish his precious memories his devoted wife, Lindsay Green; his children, Justin Cuyler, Shanara Green, and Vincent Green Jr., all of Swainsboro, Georgia; his bonus daughter, Akebia Gay, of Atlanta, Georgia; and his bonus son, Quintez Gay of Swainsboro; two precious grandchildren, his granddaughter, A'Quanna M. Gay, whom he affectionately called "Butterfly," and his grandson, Simon; his mother, Christine Ferrell; his only sister, Kashima Johnson, of Jacksonville, Florida; his sisters-in-law, Kathy Gay, Shirlene (Leartus) Williams, and Barbara Knight; and his brother-in-law, Bobbie (Wendy) Gay Jr.; many nieces and nephews who were special to him, along with a host of other relatives and dear friends.
Among those who held an especially meaningful place in Vincent's heart was his sister-in-law, Shirlene Williams. Shirlene was more than just a sister-in-law to Vince; she was someone truly special to him. Their bond was built on love, trust, and a connection that went far beyond family titles. She held a special place in his life and heart, and the relationship they shared will always be remembered and cherished.
Vincent also shared an extraordinary bond with his special cousin, Susie Cobb, affectionately known as "Cousin Sue." Vince would often say, "Cousin Sue was one of a kind." And to him, she truly was. Susie was more than a cousin; she was someone he trusted with his life and, most importantly, with his children. That level of trust spoke volumes about the love, respect, and confidence he had in her. She was someone he knew he could always depend on, and their special bond was one that could never be replaced.
Vincent shared a very special friendship with Rico Boss, whom he truly loved and encouraged. Vince believed in Rico and wanted nothing more than to see him succeed in life. Hе constantly encouraged Rico to pursue his education, stay focused on his dreams, and never allow life's challenges or obstacles to stand in his way. He would often remind him, "Don't let nothing stop you." Vincent's love for Rico was genuine, and his words of wisdom came from the heart. He wanted Rico to recognize his potential, continue striving for greatness, and never give up on himself. The love, encouragement, and life lessons Vince shared with Rico will forever remain a special part of his legacy.
Though our hearts are broken by his passing, we find comfort in the memories he leaves behind and the prayers he faithfully prayed over his family. To some, he was Vincent; to others, he was simply Grip. But to his family, he was a husband, father, grandfather, brother, and a man whose presence could never be replaced. His strength, determination, faith, love, and hardworking spirit will forever remain a part of his legacy. Although his earthly journey has come to an end, the lessons he taught, the love he shared, and the memories he created will continue to live on through everyone who knew and loved him.
Rest peacefully, Vince. Your work here on earth is done, but your legacy will live on forever. Forever Loved. Forever Remembered. Never Forgotten.
