Mrs. Virgie Mason Clark, 85, of Columbia, South Carolina, wife of the late Larry Clark, passed away Friday, September 5.

Born in Swainsboro, Ga., she was the daughter of the late Julius and Dora Mae Mason.

Mrs. Clark is survived by her son, Ric Smith and wife Sherri Smith of Lexington; grandchildren Nicole Fisher, Sydney Smith, and Emily Smith; and Cole Smith, Angeleigha Fisher great grandchildren; and siblings Kay Arrington, Faye Smith, Gene Mason; and her two best friends in the world, Bonnie Hensell and Gloria Bouknight.

She was pre-deceased by a son, Dale Smith; her cherished friend and travel companion, John Chester of England; and her beloved daschund, Pepper.

Mrs. Clark retired from Richland Memorial Hospital, after an approximately 20 year career as a secretary to the financial vice president. Mrs. Clark loved her family, hosting a weekly dinner for decades. She always enjoyed a lively debate and remained a whiz with technology throughout her life.

A graveside service will be held at Swainsboro City Cemetary on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Darrell Vroman.

Pallbearers are Mark Smith, Matt Smith, Jeff Arrington, Bobby Mason, Johnny Smith and Roy Joe Kemp.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to American Cancer Society, P. O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD  21741.
