Mr. Grimes was born August 23, 1952 in Metter to the late Carl Grimes and Marie Brown Grimes. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Wayne Grimes; sister, Carolyn Bishop; granddaughter, Abbie Grimes. Mr. Grimes moved to Twin City one month after being born. He farmed until 1990, had various construction jobs, was heavy machine operator and was owner of Grimes & Son Trucking Company. Mr. Grimes enjoyed attending fish fries and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a member of Canoochee Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Dianne Walker Grimes of Twin City; sons, Kevin (Tammy) Grimes and Foster Grimes, both of Twin City, B. J. (Robin) Grimes of Garfield; sisters, Mary (Don) Aleff of Tuscon, AZ, Ann White and Barbara (Charlie) Gay, both of Twin City, Willene Breedlove of Dallas, TX, Jean Bruner of Atlanta, Ruth (Richard) Newton of Warner Robins; grandchildren, Amber Grimes, Austin Grimes, Chandler Grimes, Chelsie Grimes; several nieces, nephews and many friends
Funeral Services will be Thursday, August 20, 2020, 11:00 a.m. at Canoochee Missionary Baptist Church with Reverend Randy Adams and Mr. Jim Roberts officiating.
Interment will follow in Old Canoochee Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, August 19, 2020 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Chapman Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Mace Henry, Dale Cannady, Jimmy Neal, Kelvin Turner, Neal Clay, Corbin Wiggins, Thomas Proctor and Wayne Harper.
In compliance with the guidelines set by the CDC, 6 feet rule will be enforced during viewing and service.
