Mr. William Arthur Herrington, Jr., 78, of Kite passed away Saturday, August 9, 2025, at Emanuel Medical Center. He was born on October 14, 1946, in Swainsboro to William Arthur Herrington and Louise Shepard Herrington.
Mr. William Arthur Herrington Jr. attended Swainsboro High School and was a 1965 Navy GED graduate. He honorably served his country in both the Navy and the Army. Throughout the years, he worked in manufacturing, mechanical, electrical, and welding jobs, and also held managing roles during his employment at Meigs Plant Amy Industry in Arlington. He retired from the workforce as a truck driver, a job he loved most. Mr. Herrington was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting. He also enjoyed welding and watching westerns in his spare time. Most of all, he enjoyed time spent with family and loved ones.
Mr. Herrington was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Rita Burke Herrington; son, Tim Herrington; sisters, JoAnn Williams, Harriett Taylor; brother, Lee Herrington.
Mr. William is survived by his sons, Matt Herrington (Jeanette) of Darien, Michael Herrington of Swainsboro; daughter, Denise Wingrove of Dothan, AL.; stepchildren, Donna (Ricky) Newsome of Swainsboro, Joey Burke (Terri) of Swainsboro; brother, Rufus Herrington of Kite; 14 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and many friends.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Chapman Funeral Home.
Graveside Service will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at Kite City Cemetery with Reverend Mark Hardin officiating.
