Mr. Willie A. Batten, 84, of Twin City died Saturday, March 12, 2011 in the Emanuel Medical Center following an extended illness.
Mr. Batten was born in Wilson, North Carolina and was preceded in death by his parents, James and Lessie Cooper Batten; a brother, Irvin Batten; and a sister, Beulah Steernes. He retired from Riverside Hospital in Virginia where he was Engineering Supervisor and was a very dedicated member of United Fellowship Church in Oak Park.
Survivors include sons, Arthur Batten, Steve Batten, and Michael Batten, all of Hampton, VA; daughters, Teresa Brown, Michigan, Cynthia Dettwiller, Deborah Howell, Connie Bland, and Judy Grnager, all of Hampton, VA; brother, James Ray Batten, Chattanooga, TN; sisters, Elouise Edenfield, Twin City, GA Lucille Rollins, Poquoson, VA, and Katherine Arnold, Hampton, VA; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
The family will receive friends Monday, March 14, 2011 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Chapman Funeral Home, Swainsboro.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 17, 2011 at 11:30 a.m. at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home followed by a funeral service at 12:30 p.m. Interment will be in the Grounds of The Profit at Parklawn Memorial Park.
