Mr. Willie Rayford Johnson, 85, of Swainsboro passed away Sunday night, July 10, 2016 at Emanuel Medical Center following a brief illness.
Mr. Johnson was born May 7, 1931 in Kite, Ga. to the late George Johnson and Mary Lizzie Dickens Johnson. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Peggy Jo Chalker Johnson; sons, Jerry Johnson, Bryant Johnson; brothers, Kenneth Johnson, Aaron Johnson, Riley Johnson, Haywood Johnson; sisters, Katherine Tapley, Dorothy Nobles, Grace Reynolds. Mr. Johnson was a lifelong resident of Emanuel County. He loved fishing, and gardening. Mr. Johnson was a member of the Kite Church of God.
Survivors include his sons, Wyman (Theresa) Johnson, David (Diane) Johnson, Alford (Tammy) Johnson, Dale (Deborah) Johnson, Cecil (Vickie) Johnson all of Swainsboro; daughters, Glenda (Ricky) Johnson of Brunswick, Suzanne Lovett of Swainsboro; sister, Martha Lynn Rowland of Wrightsville; 27 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Chapman Funeral Home 11:00 AM Wednesday morning, July 13, 2016 with Reverends Allen Meeks and Lamar Kersey officiating.
Interment will follow in the Swainsboro City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday evening, July 12, 2016 at Chapman Funeral Home.
Pallbearers are Michael Johnson, Tommy Webb, Steve Claxton, Matt Giles, Grady Scott, and Jason Wilkerson.
