Mrs. Annie Mae Kemp, 87, of Swainsboro passed away Saturday, September 4, 2021 at her residence in Swainsboro, GA following an extended illness.
Mrs. Kemp was born July 26, 1934, in Canoochee, Ga to the late Eriah Washington and Alice Oglesby Washington. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Vernon Kemp; and brother, Eriah Washington Jr. Mrs. Kemp loved singing, cooking family meals, and taking care of her children and grandchildren. She loved to work and had a great work ethic. She was a member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church for over 50 years where she served as a choir member.
Survivors include her sons, Jeffery Washington, David Kemp, Bernard Kemp all of Swainsboro; daughters, Ella (Lanny) Davis of Decatur, Lisa (Davis) Brown of Augusta; brother, Melton Washington of Grovetown; caretaker, Me’Sha Dixon of Adrian; 20 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral Service will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 11, 2021, at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church in Canoochee, Ga. Services will be held outside.
There will be an open visitation from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday September 10, 2021 at Chapman Funeral Home. No family will be present due to COVID-19 precautions.
