Mrs. Bobbie Jean Kirby Riner, 76, of Swainsboro died early Wednesday morning, January 22, 2014 at the East Georgia Regional Medical Center following an extended illness.
Mrs. Riner was born April 2, 1937 in Greenville, SC to the late Otis Lee Kirby and Irene Cain Kriby. She was one of fifteen children. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Lynwood “Lynn” Riner; son, Tyrone Riner; five sisters; and five brothers. She was raised and lived in the Savannah until 1974 when her family moved to Swainsboro. In 1988, Mrs. Bobbie and Mr. Lynn opened up Lynn and Bob’s BBQ and owned and operated the business for 22 years. Later on she owned and operated Lynn and Bob’s Deer Processing. Mrs. Riner loved cooking, fishing, spending time with family and took care of those family members who were sick. She was a member of Union Primitive Baptist Church for eight years.
Survivors include her daughter, Sandra Edenfield of Swainsboro; sons, Gerald (Terry) Riner of Savannah, Steve (Kathy) Riner of Swainsboro, Hugh “Cooter” (Jennifer) Riner of Camden SC, Shawn (Michelle) Riner of Swainsboro; sisters, Margaret Smith, Jeannette Webb and Christine Daniels all of Swainsboro; brother, Jerry (Judy) Kirby of Pooler; 20 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at the Union Primitive Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 24, 2014 with Elders Tommy Rountree and Sam Bowen. Mrs. Riner will Lie in State one hour prior to service. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday evening, January 23, 2014 at Chapman Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.
