Mr. Clayton Wayne Waters, 64, of Garfield, passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2023, at his residence following an extended illness.
Mr. Waters was born August 24, 1958, in Swainsboro to the late William Clayton Waters and Lorene Johnson Waters. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Loree Lanier and Peggy Collins; nephews, Jameson Fulmer, Timothy Blake Lee, Radyn Vonn Collins; half-brother, William R. Waters. Mr. Waters worked at IGA in Twin City for many years. He was a member of Twin City Church of God. Mr. Waters enjoyed riding dirt roads while listening to music, fishing, cooking and loved his family.
Survivors include his wife, Kathy Waters Atkinson of Garfield; sisters, Patricia Waters of Twin City, Brenda (John) Godbee of Metter; stepdaughters, Maria Brown of Windsor, SC, April McCormick of Millen; brother-in-law, Ernest (June) Johnson; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren nieces, nephews and many friends.
Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 23, 2023, in the chapel of Chapman Funeral Home with Reverend Ernest L. Johnson officiating assisted by Reverend Roy Jarriel.
Interment will follow in Old Canoochee Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at Chapman Funeral Home.
Pallbearers are Tim Clements, Ryan Clements, Johnny Rowe, Michael Collins, Steven Gay, David Dimmock, Lamar Archer and Ray Johnson.
In lieu of flowers, family request memorials be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital 61 Forsyth Street, SW, Atlanta, GA 30303.
