Mr. David Johnson, Sr., 60, of Swainsboro passed away Thursday, January 21, 2021 at his residence following an extended illness.
Mr. Johnson was born May 11, 1960 in Swainsboro to the late Reverend Robert Joseph Johnson, Sr. and Beulah Bryant Johnson. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Shirley Harris Johnson; son, Robert Joseph Johnson; sisters, Elma Hines and Annie Johnson; brothers, Nathaniel Johnson, William H. Johnson and Eddie Arrington. Mr. Johnson received his education in Swainsboro Schools. He joined First Baptist of Stillmore at an early age, then later moved his membership to Saint Phillips Baptist of Swainsboro, soon after he graduated high school and he served in the Military. Mr. Johnson had many hobbies – fishing, hunting, and the one he loved dearly was construction. Overall, he loved being with his family. He was the kindest person you could ever meet. Mr. Johnson loved making people smile. His favorite language was “Cherokee”.
Survivors include his son, David Johnson, Jr. of Swainsboro; daughter, Roanassia Johnson of Swainsboro; stepdaughters, Akiva Foreman and Faith Kae; stepson, Dejahvontay Douglas; brothers, Arthur Johnson of Terona, WA, Robert (Elisa) Johnson of Vicenza, Italy, Samuel (Kimberly) Johnson of Warner Robins, Daniel (Sheila) Johnson of Swainsboro; sisters, Gloria Prather of Daytona Beach, FL, Emma Mitchell of Columbia, SC, Louvenia Martin, Essie Johnson, Thersa Williams, all of Swainsboro, Fannie (Seth) Lake of San Antonio, TX; mother of Roanassia Johnson, Amy Pullens; 3 great-granddaughters and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be 4 p.m. Wednesday, January 27, 2021 in the chapel of Chapman Funeral Home with Reverend Benjamin Martin officiating.
Interment will be 1:30 p.m. Monday, February 8, 2021 at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at Chapman Funeral Home.
In compliance with the guidelines set by the CDC, 6 feet rule will be enforced during visitation and service.
