Ms. Edith Rountree White, 80, of Twin City passed away Tuesday, October 20, 2020 at Emanuel Medical Center following an extended illness.
Ms. White was born July 22, 1940 in Swainsboro to the late George Ivey Rountree and Annie Louise Sconyers Rountree. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joseph Richard White, Sr.; brothers, George Robert Rountree, John Emmitt Rountree, Don Rountree, James Allen Rountree; sister, Gloria Johnson. Ms. White enjoyed helping the community, spending time with her family, fishing, and cooking. Her main priority was her church. Ms. White was a member of Friendship Freewill Baptist Church for 52 years.
Survivors include her sons, Ricky White and Tommy Gene (Missi) White , both of Swainsboro, Jack (Kaye) White of Twin City, Allen (Stacy) White of Stillmore; daughter, Terrie Lynn (Joseph) Nichols of Iva, SC; brothers, Tommy (Dottie) Rountree of Swainsboro, David (Cindy) Rountree and Roy Joe (Catherine) Rountree, both of Statesboro; 15 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and many friends.
Funeral Services will be Thursday, October 22, 2020 2 p.m. in the chapel of Chapman Funeral Home with Reverend George Archer and Mr. W. J. Wimberly officiating.
Interment will follow in Old Canoochee Primitive Baptist Church cemetery.
The family will receive friends Thursday, October 22, 2020 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Chapman Funeral Home.
Pallbearers are Darrell Rountree, Mark Rountree, Shane Estes, Kyle Beach, Bubba Daniels, and Ricky Akridge.
Honorary pallbearer is Leudin Perez.
In compliance with the guidelines set by the CDC, 6 feet rule will be enforced during visitation and service.
