Mrs. Emily Riner Mason, 92, of Swainsboro, passed away Sunday, September 3, 2023, at Emanuel County Nursing Home following an extended illness.
Mrs. Mason was born September 6, 1930, to the late Edgar R. Riner and Sallie Lawson Riner. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James B. Mason; brothers, Ulys Riner, Frank Riner, Talmadge Riner, Alford Riner.
Mrs. Emily was a member of the First Baptist Church of Swainsboro, Agape Sunday School Class, and also a member of the David Emanuel Chapter DAR.
She was the first lady to solo and get her flying license in Emanuel County. She attended Swainsboro High School and Perry Business College. Her hobbies included fishing, cooking, and traveling.
She is survived by her sons, Jimmy (Mamie) Mason of Townsend, Bobby Mason, Bill Mason both of Swainsboro; brother, Hollis Riner of Dublin; a host of grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Funeral Services will be 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 5, 2023, at the Chapel of Chapman Funeral home with Reverend Louis Pearce officiating.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 5, 2023, at Chapman Funeral Home.
Interment will follow in the Swainsboro City Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be the nephews.
The family will be having lunch at Swainsboro First Baptist Church at 12:00 prior to the service on Tuesday, September 5, 2023. If you wish to provide food to the family, please deliver to the church. They have asked for no food donations to be taken to the home.
