Obituary

Eula Rowland Kittrell, 74, of Kite, Georgia passed away June 18, 2021, after a lengthy battle with cancer.

Eula was born March 9, 1947, to the late Mayo Rowland and Evelyn Scarboro Rowland in Kite. She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings Henry Rowland, Gloria Rowland Lee, Hilda Rowland Cooper, and Dorothy Rowland Kersey.

Eula met Don in 1961 at a party in Kite, and they married in August of 1965. They had three children: Melanie, Danielle, and Kenneth.

After graduating from Wadley High School in 1965, she married Don Kittrell and went to Technical School in Dublin, Georgia. Her first job out of High School was at the shirt factory in Wadley, Georgia. She worked there for several years until Don was stationed in Texas.

Prior to retiring to Kite thirteen years ago, Eula lived in Kathleen, Georgia where she worked for the Houston County Water System. She was a leader in her church community, attended work and school functions for her children, and was an active member of her community. She received several awards while working with Houston County Water System including a Total Quality Award. One of Eula’s greatest strengths was her gift of welcoming people into her home; meals and dinners at her home focused on making people feel cared for and loved. Whether she was leading a Bible study group or hosting a low country boil, she opened her home to friends and family.

Eula was deeply committed to service in her community. She was an active member of Kite’s Prayer Group for thirteen years. She was a member of Kite First Baptist Church. She worked with Angels in Flight, a recovery center in Wrightsville, Georgia and focused on helping, supporting, and mentoring the women with whom she worked. She will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her husband Don Kittrell; her children and their families: Melanie (David) Hundley, Danielle (Bill) Podrazik, and Kenneth (Lacey) Kittrell and their children, Carter and Kadence; brother Harrison (Willaine) Rowland; three cousins, Diane Griffin, Edie Pundt, and Geri Truitt with whom she was very close too.
