Mr. Fredrick “Yank” Ashley, 69, of Swainsboro passed away Sunday, June 19, 2022, at his residence following an extended illness.
Mr. Ashley was born December 25, 1952, in Johnstown, NY to Charles Henry Ashley, Sr. and Theda Carmella Tomlinson Ashley. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ruby Hall Ashley; sisters, Paulette Ashley, Norine Antwer, Charlene Tran, Janette Brady. Mr. Ashley was a mechanic and worked paint and body at Carl’s Used Cars. He was a loving Poopa with a sense of humor who enjoyed spending time with family and collecting junk.
He is survived by his sons, Freddie Ashley and Marcus Ashley, both of Swainsboro, Tommy Peebles of Wrens; daughters, Tony Peebles (David) and Michelle Henry (Jamie Odell), all of Swainsboro; grandchildren, Jasper Henry (Alyssa), Cecily Henry, Kimberly Fullmore, Tiffany Ashley, Wilder Peebles, Scarlett Sapp, Damien Ashley; brothers, Eddie Ashley and Kevin Ashley, both of Swainsboro, Charles Ashley, Jr. of Silver Springs, FL; sister, Gloria Hasty of Dunnellon, FL; 9 greatgrandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Funeral Services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 22, 2022, in the chapel of Chapman Funeral Home with Reverend Brad McKenzie officiating.
Interment will follow in Mt. Shady Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 21, 2022, at Chapman Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be David Ashley, Ty Hooks, O. J. Lott, Bobby Copeland, Dillon Copeland, and Shawne David.
