Mr. George Taylor, Jr., 74, of Swainsboro passed away Wednesday, October 6, 2021, at Augusta University Medical Center following an extended illness.
Mr. Taylor was born in Emanuel County on July 11, 1947 to the late George Taylor, Sr. and Hattie Bell Adams Taylor. He was preceded in death by his parents; mother/aunt, Ella Mae Phillips; brother, Robert Lee Taylor; sister, Mary Roundtree. After graduating from Swainsboro Elementary and High School, Mr. Taylor joined U.S. Airforce where he served 4 years rising to the rank of E4 Sergeant. After his military service he met his wife, Rose M. Fields. George’s employment career included Calvein Industries, George Meyers, insurance salesman, and Parker Aerospace from which he retired in 2012..
Survivors include his wife, Rose Marie Taylor of Springfield; daughters, Lafonda Hackett of Swainsboro, Vanessa Young (Henry) of Jacksonville, Fl., Tanika Calhoun (Shawn) of Springfield; brothers, Ricky Taylor of Augusta, Johnny Adams of Swainsboro, Alfred Phillips of Millen; sisters, Annie Evans of Swainsboro, Erma Cummings of Jacksonville, Fl., Barbara Williams of Atlanta; grandchildren, Gary Hackett III, Brianna Hackett, Canyia Mack, Immanuel Hackett, Genisis Hackett, Shaunici Calhoun, Chanel Calhoun, Chloe Calhoun; great grandchildren, Peyton Jones, Riley Jones; caretaker/brother-in-law, Chauncey Brown of Swainsboro; several nieces, nephews, and a host of other family members and friends.
Graveside Service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, October 10, 2021, in the Swainsboro City Cemetery with Reverend Richard Washington officiating.
The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. Saturday, October 9, 2021, at Chapman Funeral Home.
Pallbearers are Nakia Phillips, Jeffrey Watson, Shon Corley, Eric Bostic, Marcus Mahone, and Caleb Fields.
