Mr. Henry Russ “Hank” Evans Jr., 63, of Swainsboro passed away Sunday, December 20, 2020 at East Georgia Regional Medical Center following an extended illness.
Mr. Evans was born October 30, 1957 in Statesboro, GA to the late Henry Russ Evans Sr. and Virginia Leigh Wilkes. He was preceded in death by his parents; maternal grandparents, Bruce and Patrel Canady Wilkes; paternal grandparents, Henry Gates and Katherine Russ Evans. Mr. Evans was retired from the United States Postal Service with 33 years as a rural mail carrier, he was only bitten by one dog during his career and he always carried dog treats. He was a member and Past Master of Swainsboro Masonic Lodge #244, and a member of Alee Shriners of Savannah, and member and Past President of Swainsboro Shrine Club. Mr. Evans was a member of First United Methodist Church of Swainsboro.
Survivors include his sister, Mary Pate Gay (ML) of Swainsboro; brother, Bruce Wilkes Evans (Carol) of Dublin; nephews, Hunter Evans Gay and Bruce Wilkes Evans Jr (Hilary); niece, Jenny Quattlebaum; great niece, Paisley Brown; great nephew, Lawson Wilkes Evans; stepmother, Annette Lewis Evans; stepsisters, Sheryl Tatum (Kirk), Patricia Fails (Brent); stepbrother, Dean Lewis (Donna); many friends.
Graveside Services will be 3 p.m. Monday, December 28, 2020 at Swainsboro City Cemetery with Reverend Joe Bedgood officiating.
Pallbearers are Ben McKenzie, Noah Way, David Way, Joey Crapps III, Rosby McKenzie, and Mike Williams.
Honorary Pallbearers are Rural Mail Carriers, members of Swainsboro Masonic Lodge #244, and members of Swainsboro Shrine Club.
In compliance with the guidelines set by the CDC, 6 feet rule will be enforced during service.
