Mr. James Edward “Chief” Bouttier, 76, of Statesboro passed away Thursday night, April 5, 2018 at St. Joseph’s Hospital following an extended illness.
Mr. Bouttier was born October 24, 1941 in Browning, Montana to the late Alfred Bouttier and Catherine Tatsey Bouttier. He was preceded in death by his wife, Fannie Lou Barnwell Bouttier; brothers, Joseph Bouttier, Curtis Bouttier, Gerald Bouttier; grandson, Eddie Taylor. At the age of 20, Mr. Bouttier joined the United States Army until 1965. After being discharged from the Army, Mr. Bouttier moved to Georgia. He was an avid fisherman and Christian. Mr. Bouttier enjoyed the outdoors, mostly spending his day watching the hummingbirds. He loved to travel and listen to blue grass music with his companion, Ms. Juanita. Mr. Bouttier would help anyone, he never met a stranger and always had a smile on his face. He attended Clito Baptist Church.
Survivors include his fiancé, Juanita Garrett of Lovejoy; daughters, Teresa Jenkins (Walter) and Tammy Taylor (Billy) all of Kite; son, Jack Oglesby of Dublin; sister, Betty Brown (Michael) of Missoula MT; grandchildren, Butch Willis (Shannon), Jeremy Taylor, Tonya Blount (Alan), Nicholas Jenkins, Kayla Beneteau (Roy), Bryceson Oglesby, Dale Taylor, Spencer Taylor; 12 great grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral Services will be in the Chapel of Chapman Funeral Home 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 9, 2018 with Elder Tommy Rountree officiating.
Interment will follow in the Kite City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, April 8, 2018 at Chapman funeral Home.
Pallbearers are Barney Culp, Dana Hill, Jimmy Akridge, Timothy Glenn, Steven Glenn, Kenneth Glenn, and James Akridge.
Honorary Pallbearers are John A. Smith, Kyle Shedd, John Beasley, and Alan Stewart.
